Foot Care Tips from Gentle Steps Nail Care
Taking care of your feet is essential to staying mobile, independent, and pain-free. Here are some simple tips to keep your feet healthy:
🦶 Inspect Your Feet Daily. Check for cuts, blisters, redness, swelling, or any changes—especially if you have diabetes or poor circulation.
🧼 Wash and Dry Thoroughly. Clean your feet daily with warm (not hot) water and gentle soap. Don’t forget to dry between your toes to prevent fungal infections.
✂️ Trim Nails Carefully. Cut nails straight across and avoid cutting too short. This helps prevent ingrown toenails and discomfort.
🧴 Moisturize, But Not Between Toes. Apply lotion to keep skin soft and prevent cracking—just avoid between the toes to reduce the risk of fungal growth.
👟 Wear Proper Footwear. Choose shoes that fit well and offer support. Avoid walking barefoot to prevent injury or infection.
🧦 Change Socks Daily. Clean, dry socks help keep your feet fresh and reduce the risk of infection.
👩⚕️ See a Foot Care Professional. If you notice any pain, thickened or discolored nails, or sores that won’t heal, reach out to a healthcare provider. Regular care from an RN can help prevent serious problems.
